Seacon boosts tanker fleet with newbuild duo
China’s Seacon Shipping has returned to Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding for more tankers.
The Hong Kong-listed company has added two 18,500 dwt chemical/product carriers to four already booked at the yard earlier this year in a deal worth a total of $129.2m.
The fresh order came at $32.3m each with vessels delivering in December 2025 and March 2026.
Qingdao-based Seacon has been expanding its footprint in the tanker segment with several newbuild orders spread across Chinese shipyards.
Last month, Wuhu Shipyard was added to the contractors list in a $30.1m deal for another 18,500 dwt unit, while in February Chengxi Shipyard scooped up an order for four MR product tankers.
