According to reports, a Customs Officer was allegedly murdered in Gamjin Makaho village, situated along Dankama road, within the Kaita Local Government Area of Katsina State.

As of press time, the details surrounding his death are unclear. Sources speaking to the media mentioned that the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) headquarters had been informed about the incident but had not yet received confirmation from its command in the state.

Previously, it was stated that Customs officers stationed along the Katsina-Dankama road had signaled for a truck carrying passengers bound for Dankama town to stop. However, the truck driver purportedly declined to comply with their instructions.

Subsequently, the truck driver and other passengers disembarked and reportedly assaulted the officer, who allegedly died during the altercation.

In a separate incident earlier in February, a teenager was reportedly killed when a J5 Peugeot vehicle driver struck bystanders in the Jibia Local Government Area of the state. The J5 driver, transporting soya beans, became frightened upon seeing NCS officials, abruptly hit the brakes, and collided with a car near a filling station, resulting in the teenager’s death.
