In a recent interview with Channels Television, former Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Ameh Peter Ojonugwa, called on political actors in Rivers State to respect the constitutional process and avoid actions that could destabilize the state. Ojonugwa’s comments come amid a deepening political crisis in the state, with the feud between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike escalating tensions.
Ojonugwa emphasized the importance of adhering to established procedures and encouraged those dissatisfied with Fubara’s leadership to channel their energies into campaigning and canvassing for their preferred candidate in the next election. He condemned the threat of making Rivers State ungovernable due to political interests, labeling it as something he “totally detests.”
In his words;
“They should know that there’s a constitutional process. If Sim gets to the next election, you could decide not to support him and bring your own candidate and then slug it out by campaigning and canvassing your opinion to the people, but to say that Rivers State will remain ungovernable because of their interest is something I totally detest”
