Governor recants, says he never criticised Nigerian Soldiers in banditry war

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has clarified recent speculations alleging criticism towards the armed forces’ management of the ongoing battle against banditry within the state.

Instead, he reaffirmed his profound respect for the military, police, and allied forces.

According to a press release issued by Mohamed Kaula, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, and disseminated to the media in Katsina, Governor Radda reiterated his admiration for the Armed Forces, police, and all security personnel, acknowledging their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding peace and security.

The statement read: ”Radda has continued to support the military and other security agencies in Katsina State with logistics and in some cases, the Governor has had cause to be part of the joint patrol in the efforts to fish out bandits.

”Given his antecedents as a former local government chairman and someone who has served at the federal level as Director General of SMEDAN before his election as Governor of Katsina State, it is not possible to make sweeping generalizations against any institution.”

The statement also made mention of an interview Governor Radda conducted with a television station back in April, which had sparked backlash from the Armed Forces.

Governor Radda clarified that he never made any remarks as simplistic as those attributed to him, emphasising that such statements would defy logic.

He elaborated, stating, “In any human organization, there exist both commendable and condemnable elements, and the actions of the latter can sometimes impede the commendable efforts of the vast majority whose dedication to the nation is unparalleled.”
