BREAKING: NLC Demands International Inquiry into Invasion of Labour House

According to Vanguard, The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has condemned the invasion of its headquarters, Labour House, by armed security operatives on Wednesday night. The NLC has demanded an international inquiry into the incident, describing it as a “traumatic invasion” and a “new low in security operations in Nigeria”.

According to the NLC, the security operatives, including police and suspected DSS agents, broke into the office, ransacked the bookshop, and carted away hundreds of books and publications. The NLC stated that the operatives claimed to be searching for “seditious materials” used for the #EndBadGoverance Protests.

The NLC has directed its staff to stay away from the Labour House until it is certain that no incriminating materials or harmful substances were left behind by the invading operatives. The organization has also demanded the immediate withdrawal of the security agents and the return of the seized materials.

The NLC warned that if the harassment continues, it may call on its members to stay home until their safety and security are assured. The organization emphasized that the “asphyxiation of the public space and channels for constructive engagement, dialogue, and negotiations” would only make matters worse.
