Report: Man Utd could offer to sign 27-year-old striker on loan with obligation to buy

Manchester United are reportedly considering a huge move to acquire Brentford striker Ivan Toney through a loan deal with an obligation to buy, according to Man Utd News.

The club may test Brentford’s resolve in the final days of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old England international is valued at around ยฃ60 million by Brentford, a fee that Manchester United are hesitant to meet, especially with Toney’s contract set to expire next summer.

This situation puts Brentford in a challenging position, as they risk losing Toney for free if they don’t secure a deal soon.

A loan agreement, however, might be a viable solution if it includes a mandatory purchase clause.

Recently, Bruno Fernandes was deployed as a central striker during the Community Shield clash against Manchester City, a role he may need to reprise in their Premier League opener against Fulham.

The addition of Toney would bolster United’s attack, bringing in a player with proven Premier League experience.

However, the club’s new recruitment plan emphasizes financial prudence, especially after a summer spending spree of approximately ยฃ155 million on players like Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui.
