The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State is reeling from a major setback as influential party leader and renowned business magnate, Moses Omo-Ikirodah, officially announced his resignation. Omo-Ikirodah, a key political figure in Edo North and a formidable House of Representatives candidate in the 2023 general elections, held significant sway over the Etsako Federal Constituency, commanding the loyalty of many PDP supporters.
In a resignation letter that has rapidly gained attention, Omo-Ikirodah shared that his decision came after extensive discussions with family, friends, and political allies. He emphasized that this move marks a new chapter in his political career, one that lies beyond the boundaries of his former party.
Although Omo-Ikirodah expressed his appreciation for the opportunities provided by the PDP over the years, speculation is rife that his departure may be linked to the internal strife currently besetting the party. Many observers suggest that he could be on the verge of joining the APC, a development that could severely weaken the PDP’s hold in Edo North and potentially lead to its decline in the region.
