The engagement was announced following the annual eight-day reed dance ceremony, a traditional event for young women.
King Mswati, 56, is already in a polygamous marriage with 11 wives and has been married 15 times.
Alpheous Nxumalo, a monarchy spokesperson, emphasized that the marriage is based on love, dismissing any political motives.
Jacob Zuma, who resigned amid corruption allegations, is experiencing a political revival with his new party placing third in recent South African elections.
The union highlights strong cultural ties between Eswatini and South Africa’s Zulu monarchy.
Nomcebo was presented as the “liphovela,” or royal fiancée, during the ceremony.
