Teenage Housewife allegedly murdered her Stepson threw body inside River
A 17-year-old woman, Nguemo Ikyowe, has been arrested by the Benue State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in connection with the alleged murder of her three-year-old stepson, Vanen Ikyowe, in Ginde village, Guma Local Government Area of the State.
During a press conference at the Command’s headquarters in Makurdi on Thursday, State Commandant Larai Bitrus revealed that Nguemo was apprehended on September 12 for culpable homicide.
The arrest followed a distress call from the public reporting that Nguemo had killed the young boy and disposed of his body in a river.
Bitrus said: “Our men stationed at Ginde village swiftly moved to the scene and arrested the suspect who later confessed to the crime during interrogation.
“The suspect led officers who conducted a search and discovered the lifeless body of the boy and deposited it at a mortuary in Ginde village.
“The crime is against the state and so she will be handed over to the Nigerian Police Force for possible prosecution after their investigation.”
In response to questions from journalists, the suspect stated that she is the second wife of the victim’s father.
She recounted that she had taken her stepson into the bush to collect firewood when she was suddenly overtaken by a spirit, which led her to kill the boy.
