JUST IN; Three Policemen summoned,  trial commenced for alleged N1 million extortion from Corp members

Three Officers in Lagos have been invited by Police authorities for alleged extortion of N1 million from corps members.

The incident, which occurred in the Surulere area, was captured on video and circulated widely on social media late Friday.

A user, Oluyemi Fasipe, shared the footage, claiming it shows the officers taking the money from the corps members.

The caption reads: “Dear @BenHundeyin, Your officers today in Surulere extorted 1 million naira from three corps members,” he wrote on Friday. “They were threatened with firearms, kidnapped, and taken to the KAFARU OLUWOLE TINUBU HOUSE AREA C POLICE COMMAND of the @LagosPoliceNG where they were robbed.
“Their offence was the absence of a physical copy of a driver’s license. This is evil!”

In one of the videos, police officers were seen inspecting the documents of car occupants, which escalated into a heated confrontation that drew more officers to the scene.

At one point, an officer entered the vehicle, instructing those present to stop filming and preventing them from contacting their families.

Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed that the officers involved have been summoned for further investigation.

He wrote: “The men have been summoned and their trial has commenced.

“We urge the complainants to visit the Complaint Response Unit at the State Headquarters to testify at the ongoing trial.”
