CP calls for stakeholders, Community Leaders’ meeting on security matters
The Police Commissioner of Imo State, Aboki Danjuma, has called on community leaders, civil society groups, and other stakeholders to participate in an important security meeting aimed at improving police-community relations and assessing police service delivery.
Set for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Senior Police Officers Mess in Owerri, this meeting coincides with the 2024 SERVICOM Week, beginning October 15.
In a statement issued on October 13 by the command’s spokesman, Henry Okoye, Danjuma noted that the agenda will include discussions on recent community complaints regarding extortion, unprofessional conduct, and illegal phone searches by some officers, especially targeting youth.
“Recent community feedback has highlighted concerns about extortion, incivility, and unlawful phone searches by some police officers, particularly targeting youth.”
To address these issues, Danjuma has instructed the Command’s Complaint Response Unit (CRU) and the IGP X-Squad Unit to carry out investigations and enhance oversight.

Danjuma emphasised that the stakeholders’ meeting reflects the Command’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and active community engagement in improving security.
“We encourage the public to actively support our efforts in fostering peace and security,” CP Danjuma said, adding that by promoting open communication, we seek to build trust and improve our service delivery to citizens.
“This meeting is a vital opportunity for stakeholders to voice concerns and contribute to improving policing in Imo State,” CP Danjuma emphasised.
“Together, we can create a safer and more respectful environment for all citizens,” he said.
“The Imo State Police Command remains dedicated to enhancing service delivery and upholding individual rights and dignity,” he said.
