Four Suspects arrested by Police as 2–year–old toddler was reportedly r*p*d to death
Four people have been arrested by operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command in connection with the death of a two-year-old girl in Ningi Local Government Area, including her 17-year-old mother, Lauratu Saleh, and 23-year-old father, Abubakar Usman.
Reports claim that the girl was likely raped to death.
A chemist who provided initial medical treatment and a relative who helped transport the child’s remains to her father were also detained.
Command spokesman Ahmed Wakili confirmed the arrests, stating they followed a thorough investigation. While addressing journalists at the Command headquarters on Friday, Wakili explained that a detailed inquiry led to the suspects’ detention, and they are now assisting authorities in uncovering the full circumstances of the incident.
The Police Spokesperson further disclosed that the Command is investigating a suspected rape case linked to the child’s death, following confirmation from a medical doctor at Ningi General Hospital that signs of sexual assault were found on the deceased.
The body of the two-year-old girl was discovered two days ago, wrapped in clothes and abandoned within the premises of a mosque in the Newada area of Ningi, the headquarters of Ningi LGA.
