Nobody is sleeping in President Tinubu’s cabinet over Security issue – Federal Govt
On Tuesday, Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo assured the public that the federal government is actively addressing the nation’s security concerns.
Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Tunji-Ojo emphasised the commitment of key security leaders, noting that National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa are deeply engaged in finding solutions, often working tirelessly to secure the nation.
“Nobody is resting. Not the NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, not the Minister of Defence, not the Chief of Defence Staff, not the DSS.
“Nobody is sleeping, we are working. This security issue is a major issue of national concern and I will not sit here and refuse to take responsibility for the security of Nigerians on behalf of the President.”
The minister emphasised that while security has improved under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been significantly weakened by military forces.
He highlighted that the current administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.
The minister also urged citizens not to pass judgment on President Tinubu, as he is fully aware of the country’s security challenges.
He said: “The President is sensitive to these issues. Do not judge the President, or this administration by the level of assurance. Talk is cheap, the real deal is the action.
“We came May 29 last year, I don’t want us to bring politics into this. We all know the situations across the board, have we gotten to where we want to get to? The answer is no. Are we where we were? The answer is no. We have made progress.”
