Normalcy returns as Federal Govt Forces chase Lakurawa Terrorists out of Nigeria

Normalcy is slowly being restored across seven local government areas in Kebbi and Sokoto states that were recently attacked by the militant group, Lakurawa.

Following a series of intense military operations, both local and state officials, as well as community leaders and residents, confirm that the insurgents have pulled back from the region.

The terror group, which is believed to have infiltrated from Mali and Burkina Faso, initially caused widespread concern in the two states.

Sources revealed how the group, with its criminal, ideologically driven agenda, gradually took control of several areas before being pushed back by the Nigerian military.

In response to the growing threat, National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu assured the public that the federal government, under President Bola Tinubu, would take swift and decisive action to eradicate the terrorists.

Ribadu emphasised the government’s unyielding commitment to national security, declaring that the insurgents had made a grave miscalculation in choosing to operate within Nigeria’s borders. “We will kick you out of Nigeria,” Ribadu firmly stated.

The Lakurawa group came to wider attention after Sokoto State’s Deputy Governor, Idris Mohammed Gobir, revealed that the insurgents, equipped with sophisticated weapons, had taken control of five local government areas in the state.

Speaking during a visit from participants of Air Vice Marshal Titus Zuwahu Dauda-led participants of Course 33 from the National Defence College, Abuja, Gobir expressed hope that the insights gained from the study tour would aid in developing strategies to manage the crisis and restore peace to the affected communities.

As the military continues its operations, local residents are cautiously optimistic that their communities will soon recover from the recent violence, with stability returning to the once-volatile regions.
