Suspected gunmen invade Hospital kidnap Medical Doctor on duty
A medical doctor, Dr. Donatus Nwasor, has been reportedly abducted by armed assailants in Utagba-Uno, located in the Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident occurred late in the day as the doctor was finishing his shift at his clinic.
According to reports, the attack unfolded as Dr. Nwasor was preparing to close for the evening when the gunmen forcibly took him from the premises.
His auxiliary nurse, who witnessed the abduction, immediately sounded the alarm, alerting the community after seeing her employer being seized by the armed men.
The motive behind the kidnapping is still unclear.
The community remains in shock over the brazen attack on a local healthcare provider.
A source stated that: “As the doctor entered his car after closing around 8 pm and switched on the ignition, a call came.
“While the engine was on, he stepped out to answer the phone call. Suddenly, about five men came out of a nearby bush and hit him down, dragged him into his car and drove away.
“One of the abductors’ rubber sandals fell off at the clinic premises, and they drove towards the Ugiliamai/Iselegu area,” the nurse said.
“The doctor’s car was later found abandoned near Iselegu Junction along the expressway leading to Asaba.
“A group of Anti-Cult personnel in Utagba-Uno got there around 9:10 pm and found a car with all the doors wide open without anyone inside.
“It was confirmed that it was Dr Nwasor’s car,” a source stated.
In the course of tracking down the abductors, authorities uncovered an escape route near Obi-Ukpo in Onicha-Ukwuani. Sources confirmed that Dr. Nwasor’s family and other concerned parties have been notified about the incident.
Additionally, the matter has been formally reported to the Kwale Division of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and action.
