Speed Darlington’s Lawyer Decries Police Refusal to Grant Bail

Stan Alieke, the lawyer representing controversial entertainer Speed Darlington, has expressed deep frustration over the Nigerian Police Force’s refusal to grant his client bail, despite being held for over 48 hours.

“I have exhausted all my connections and reached out to political allies in Abuja, yet no one seems willing to intervene. Many are saying he’s only facing the consequences of his actions. This is not the kind of image the Nigerian Police Force should be projecting,” Alieke said.

He further argued that Speed Darlington’s alleged offense—insulting someone—should be addressed in court, not through prolonged detention. Reflecting on a previous arrest, Alieke recalled how Burna Boy intervened by showing up with his team and distributing cash to officers, seemingly resolving the matter.
