Addressing the Urgent Need for Gratuity and Death Benefits Payments in Bauchi State: An open letter to His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed, by Muhammad Ahmad Yaya Misau

Dear Governor Bala Mohammed,

As your second term in office approaches its first anniversary on May 29, 2024, I am compelled to bring to your attention a pressing matter that demands immediate action: the long-overdue payments of gratuities and death benefits to retired and deceased employees of Bauchi State.

Your Excellency, we understand the myriad challenges facing the state, but we cannot overlook the plight of those who have dedicated their lives to serving Bauchi State. These retirees and the families of the deceased deserve timely and dignified financial support.

We commend your efforts in securing a substantial loan of N100 billion for the crucial rehabilitation and construction of roads within the state. This demonstrates your commitment to infrastructure development and the well-being of Bauchi State’s citizens. However, we urge you to consider securing another loan specifically designated to address the backlog of gratuities and death benefits.

The financial burden on retirees and families who have lost loved ones is immense, and the delay in receiving these payments only exacerbates their hardship. By prioritizing the settlement of these obligations, you will not only honor the contributions of past employees but also demonstrate your administration’s compassion and integrity.

We implore you to take decisive action to ensure that gratuities and death benefits are disbursed without further delay. Let the first anniversary of your second term be marked not only by achievements in infrastructure but also by tangible improvements in the lives of Bauchi State’s retirees and bereaved families.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I remain hopeful for prompt and compassionate action.
