“Retrace your steps” – Arewa youths tell Wike over ‘lopsided’ appointments

Some recent appointments by the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, seems to have drawn the attention of some northern youths in the capital city.

The Reformed Arewa Youth Coalition (RAYC) has urged Wike to ensure his appointments follow the principle of federal character.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, president of the group, Comrade Attahiru Musa, warned Wike against undermining the principle of federal character in making decisions in government.

He expressed concern that Wike’s appointments were beginning to show lopsideness, urging him to remain true to his cause.

“There is an urgent need for the FCT Minister to retrace his steps at the risk of polarizing the federal capital territory along ethnic and religious lines, which can potentially rupture the fragile peace in the FCT and its environs,” he said.

“By all indications, the FCT Minister elected to forget that the FCT is the Centre of Unity, and, as such, the principle of inclusion must stand supreme above every other interest.”

The group accused Wike of removing northerners and replacing them with southerners, especially Rivers State indigenes.
