Ex-head of Guangzhou port under investigation

Li Yibo, the former chairman of Guangzhou port, has been placed in custody by anti-graft authorities, with Chinese finanacial newswire Caixin reporting the port operator is investigating construction projects carried out during Li’s tenure.

Li was detained at the start of this month. On April 3, Shanghai-listed Guangzhou Port said Li had resigned for “personal reasons.” 

China’s anti-graft campaign has caught up many in maritime, most notably among the ship leasing community.
