Jose Mourinho spotted Amid speculation he could return to Chelsea after clarifying stance on next job
Amid speculation he could return to Chelsea for a third managerial stint, Jose Mourinho was spotted in Portugal after making fresh comments about his future plans.
With the Blues 11th in the Premier League standings and 17 points off the pace to secure Champions League qualification, Mauricio Pochettino’s continues to face uncertainty. There is still a chance to reach UEFA’s secondary competitions and grab silverware in the FA Cup, though it will be an uphill struggle.
Thus there remains split opinion if he is the correct man for the job, corresponding with the availability of Stamford Bridge hero Mourinho. The 61-year-old was last in charge of AS Roma in Italy, where he won the Europa Conference League and led his team to runner-up spot in the Europa League the following year.
Eventually in January midway through the current campaign, he was sacked. Since then whilst the Chelsea rumours have swirled, he has been spotted across the globe – particularly displaying his love of motorsport.
Over two weeks ago Mourinho was in attendance at Formula 1’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah. He was seen meeting with Newcastle United owner Yasser Al-Rumayyan, whilst Todd Boehly had been in the country during a similar timeframe.
Now fast-forward this weekend the legendary coach was taking in a different variation of high-speed action as he watched the latest MotoGP race in Portimao, situated in the Algarve region of his home country.
Not only that, the ‘Special One’ was handed the honours of waving the chequered flag at the end of the race won by championship leader Jorge Martin, then presenting the runner-up trophy to Enea Bastianini.
Speaking at the event, Mourinho clarified his stance on returning to football management. He stated: “Zero, zero. I don’t have a club, I’m free. But I want to work, in the summer I want to work.”
