Mykhailo Mudryk delivers on long-term promise with brilliant gesture
Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk has made a fan’s day by giving them an iPhone, remembering a promise he made towards the end of last year.
The 23-year-old is currently with the Ukrainian national team, hoping to help them reach the Euros this summer through the Nations League playoffs. They’re set to play Iceland at the Stadion Miejski Wroclaw on Tuesday.
As he was getting ready for the match, Mudryk remembered a promise he’d made to a dedicated fan last October. He’d joked that he’d need to buy the fan a new phone because they’d filled their current one with photos of him.
Just before he got on the team bus, Mudryk saw the fan outside the hotel. He reached into his bag and pulled out a brand-new iPhone to give to them.
One fan said: “This is top class, small price to pay for Mudryk, but something that guy will remember for the rest of his life,” Another added: “How lovely is that from him? Big up Mudryk! “, reports the Daily Star. A third fan said: “This is so wholesome,” And another commented: “He’s the most chilled guy I’ve seen in a while, I can’t lie! Proper likeable! “.
Mudryk has been finding his feet at Chelsea, and his international teammate, Georgiy Sudakov, suggested earlier this week that he should play as a striker.
He told 90min: “Mykhailo is a talented player, he can play in any position, not only on the wing, he can play in the centre of the field, as a centre forward. I am sure that he has a bright future ahead of him at Chelsea. It just requires time, and people should trust him.”
“Mykhailo and I talk every day, and in some situations I learn from him and he gives me advice. He’s having new challenges at Chelsea this season, but he is a very talented player with very big ambitions. I think he has a great future.”
