Some of their most talented youngsters have actually seen the majority of their campaign wasted

due to poor selection of loan side.

One player this looked as if it was going to threaten to happen to is Andrey Santos, who hardly registered a minute during his spell at Nottingham Forest earlier this season.

He was recalled in January, with them taking plenty of time to decide what the best port of call was to be regarding the rest of his season.

They eventually decided to loan him out to Strasbourg, with their links to the Ligue 1 side clear to see off the pitch.

They had already sent Angelo Gabriel there at the start of the season, however injuries saw him return to Cobham.

His fellow Brazilian has hit the ground running at his loan side though, starting regularly now for a team that is struggling in the top tier of French football.

The 19-year-old’s performances have been noticed by the league though, with him being named their official young player of the month.

It has been reported that there are  plenty of sides who were interested in loaning Santos both in the summer and in January, suggesting that he has a lot of promise.

It remains to be seen whether the Brazilian will play for the first team at the end of this season, with them clearly lacking depth in that position that can make an impact behind Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

There will likely be plenty of eyes on his performances for the rest of the season, with a chance to star at Stamford Bridge next year.
