Abba Kyari finally released from Prison after two years behind bars
The Suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has been released from the Kuje Custodial Centre in Abuja after spending 27 months in custody.
This followed a ruling by a Federal High Court in Abuja granting Kyari a two-week bail. The court stated that the bail was to allow Kyari to return home to conclude his mother’s burial rites.
Subsequently, the court set Friday, May 31, for the determination of his bail application in the trial over drug-related charges filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) following his arrest over two years ago on February 14, 2022.
Adamu Duza, the spokesperson of the FCT Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), confirmed that Kyari was released after meeting his bail conditions.
He said,: “DCP Kyari has perfected his bail conditions, and has since been released today.”
It would be noted that Kyari’s mother passed away in the early hours of Sunday, May 5, 2024.
