Abductors demand N50m ransom for 2 Taraba varsity students
Abductors have demanded a ransom fee of N50 million for the release of two students from the Federal University Wukari, Taraba State. The abducted students are identified as Joshua Sardauna from the Economics department and Obianu Elizabeth from the Microbiology department.
Ashu Agbu, the head of the information and protocol unit of the institution, revealed this information via a telephone interview.
During the recently conducted convocation ceremony, the vice chancellor disclosed that about 90 percent of the students and staff of the institution live outside the school premises.

On the night of Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at about 10:00 PM, kidnappers attacked a shop attached to the hostel accommodating these students outside the school premises. They abducted the two students, who were working as staff of a restaurant.
The students had returned to rewrite their examinations due to carryovers.
Agbu stated that the abductors indicated that they actually came for the owner of the eatery and not his staff, suggesting their intention to return for him.
Security agencies and youths of the area are currently combing the surrounding forests and bush paths to apprehend the kidnappers and ensure the safe rescue of the students.

An expanded meeting involving security agencies, local, state, and federal government representatives is scheduled for Monday to find a lasting solution to the problems.
