Abia State Government Begins Full Reconstruction of Owerrinta-Umuika Highway
The Abia State government, under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti, has commenced the full reconstruction of the Owerrinta-Umuika Highway.
The project, which includes transforming the road into a dual carriageway with streetlights, spans from the Abia boundary with Imo State to Umuika Junction. In line with the administration’s principle of compassion and due process, the government ensured that property owners affected by the reconstruction were fully compensated. This compensation process has been completed, paving the way for uninterrupted work on the road.
As part of efforts to address lingering challenges in the area, the government is also working to establish a Trailer Park. This initiative aims to eliminate the congestion, safety risks, and security challenges caused by parked trailers, which have been a major source of gridlock along the route for years.
Governor Otti’s administration continues to demonstrate its commitment to the “New Abia” vision through the implementation of verifiable projects across the state, setting a standard for infrastructural development and citizen-focused governance.
