Malaysian tanker player AET has struck a deal to bring in a pair of LNG dual-fuel aframax newbuilds on long-term charter.
Singapore-based logistics and tonnage provider Singfar Group has fixed its 115,000 dwt duo recently booked for construction at New Times Shipbuilding in China.
The vessels will be delivered to AET in 2027. No further details have been disclosed.
AET’s president and chief executive Zahid Osman said the deal signified another important step forward in the company’s fleet rejuvenation efforts and 2030 energy transition goals.
“By adding these two eco-efficient vessels on long-term charter to our fleet from end 2027, they will bring AET closer towards our 2030 target of 40% GHG emissions reduction (from 2008 baseline) and the MISC Group’s ambition of net-zero by 2050.”
