Angry Cole Palmer rant after Burnley draw with claims that Chelsea are the victims

Cole Palmer has claimed that Chelsea are the victims of their own downfall after the Blues failed to defeat 10-men Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men were twice pegged back by the Clarets at Stamford Bridge in another frustrating afternoon. Palmer opened the scoring from the spot late in the first-half before Josh Cullen levelled.

Palmer looked as though he had handed Chelsea all three points but Dara O’Shea headed in a second equaliser from a corner. The draw leaves the Blues in 11th place, frustrating Pochettino.

“Agreed [two points dropped]. Very disappointed in the way that in the second-half we managed or dealt with the situation,” the Argentine said. “We are a team that, when we play in possession and play forward, we are able to create too many chances, maybe not to score all the chances we created.

“We need to improve our percentage in the game.”

And the Chelsea boss’ frustrations were mirrored by Palmer after the full-time whistle. “It’s poor, really… it can’t happen,” he said. “Especially when they go down to ten men.”

“We got too comfortable. Same story, we kill ourselves every week. It’s got to improve from us as players. We need consistency.”

Palmer has now netted 19 goals this season and continued his remarkable season in west London. His performances have been the one of few positives at Stamford Bridge.

Alongside a composed penalty in the first-half, the England international finished off a great team goal in the second half for the Blues.
