APC New Media Directorate Calls for Betsy Obaseki to Apologize for Insulting Edo Citizens

The APC New Media Directorate strongly denounces the recent disparaging comments made by Betsy Obaseki, the First Lady of Edo State. Her remarks, which derided our distinguished candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and mocked the PDP candidate’s marital status, are not only disrespectful but an affront to the dignity of all Edo citizens.

Such remarks are unbecoming of someone in a position of influence and responsibility. Edo people cherish our cultural values and integrity, and it is appalling that the First Lady would choose to belittle and disrespect our community. Marriage is a private matter and should never be used as a political weapon to shame or demean others.

The insensitive nature of her comments has caused unnecessary embarrassment and discord among our people, reflecting a fundamental misunderstanding of true leadership. Therefore, we demand a prompt and sincere public apology from Betsy Obaseki. She must recognize the damage her words have caused and fully own up to this disgraceful behavior.

Edo values respect, honor, and decency—qualities that are glaringly absent in this administration. We call on all Edo citizens to reject such divisive tactics and unite for a leadership that genuinely reflects our cherished values.

The APC remains focused on an issue-based campaign that addresses the real needs of our people, undistracted by the petty and divisive politics of the PDP.
