In a month of March filled with stellar performances, Nigerian footballers showcased their talents both for clubs and country. Leading the charge is goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, who stood tall for Udinese, and he tops Completesports.com‘s Nigeria Team of The Month (March 2024) selection.
There are also standout Nigerian defenders midfielders and forwards for clubs and the country in March. Join us as we celebrate the standout performers who lit up the footballing stage in March 2024.
GOALKEEPER:
Maduka Okoye:
Since taking over the number one spot at Udinese, Maduka Okoye has meritoriously played the role for the Manager Gabriele Cioffi’s team, not letting it slip away from his grasp.

He kept his place in the three league games Udinese played in March and helped them to a famous 2-1 win at Lazio.
DEFENDERS:
Bright Osayi-Samuel
Kicked off the month of March with a goal in Fenerbahce’s 2-0 league win at Hatayspor.
Was in action for the Super Eagles who beat Ghana 2-1 in an international friendly game to end an 18-year winless run against their eternal rivals.
Semi Ajayi
Ajayi was involved in three of West Brom’s five EFL Championsip games in the month in review during which they did not lose any game – bagged three wins and two draws.
Featured in defence for 90 minutes and impressed as the Super Eagles beat Ghana in an international friendly game.
Kenneth Omeruo
Omeruo played in all three of Kasimpasa’s Turkish Super Lig fixtures last month and helped them claim four points from a possible six.
Was impressive for the Eagles but could not help them avoid the 2-0 defeat to Mali in the friendly game in Morocco.
Calvin Bassey
Bassey played in all four of Fulham’s games last month.
In the four games, he helped the Cottagers to two wins and one draw, but recorded one loss.
MIDFIELDERS:
Alex Iwobi
Iwobi featured in four Premier League games for Fulham in march – against Brighton (home), Wolves (away), Tottenham (home) and Sheffield Unitedn(away). He was on target for Fulham in their 2-1 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Ezoic

On international scene, he set up Ademola Lookman with a clever assist for the Eagles in the friendly win against Ghana.
Frank Onyeka
The hardworking midfielder provided an assist for Yoane Wissa to score a brilliant bicycle kick goal for Brentford in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League.
Onyeka helped Nigeria’s Super Eagles overcome Ghana in the last international week in March,but was out of the team due to injury when Mali defeated Nigeria 2-0.
Nathan Tella
Tella featured in all four Bayer Leverkusen’s Budesliga games in March. He scored the first goal in Leverkusen’s 2-0 home win against VFL Wolfsburg on March 10. He also provided an assist for Patrik Schick’s stoppage time goal for Leverkusen in their dramatic 2-1 win against TSG Hoffenheim on March 30.
Was invited for Nigeria’s friendly games against Ghana and Mali, but didn’t get the chance to play.
FORWARDS:
Ademola Lookman
It was a memorable month of March for Ademola Lookman for both club and country as he scored three goals.
He scored one goal in Serie A – in 2-1 defeat to Bologna on March 3, one in Europa League – in 2-1 home against Sporting CP on March 14 and netted the winner in Nigeria’s 2-1 international friendly win over Ghana.
Cyriel Dessers
The striker featured in two Scottish Premier League and two Europa League matches for Rangers, as well as two international games for Nigeria in March. He found the back of the net at club and national team levels.
Dessers converted a first half penalty kick in Nigeria’s 2-1 win against Ghana and also scored in Rangers’ 3-1 win against Hibernian on March 30.
Terem Moffi
It was a remarkable month of March for Terem Moffi as he scored four goals in five games in all competitions for OGC Nice.
He bagged a brace in one of the games which was a 3-1 win at Lens. He also scored one apiece – in home 1-2 defeat to Toulouse and 2-1 loss at FC Nantes.
