I truly wish that our people would stop destroying shrines in our land. You don’t need to worship them or visit them; just leave them alone. They are part of our history and could attract tourists in the future.

It is disheartening to see some Christians in Igboland, especially in Pentecostal churches, going around destroying these shrines in the name of Christianity. I remember the last time I traveled to Japan; I paid money to visit their ancient shrines. When I was there, I thought, “Wait a minute, isn’t this the same thing in my community?
