Awarding Bobrisky Best Dressed Female Was Intentional, We Did It To Prómote My Movie – Actress Eniola Ajao Reveals
Filmmaker and actress, Eniola Ajao has stated that announcing Nigerian crossdresser, Bobrisky as the Best Dressed Female at her movie premiere (Ajakaju), was a publicity stunt to promote the movie.
According to reports, a multitude of celebrities attended the launch of her much-awaited movie “Ajanaku: Beast of Two Worlds” on Sunday, 24 March.
Numerous guests displayed captivating outfits, and to the astonishment of many, Bobrisky was honored as the Best Dressed Female of the Night, receiving a prize of one million naira.
Some attendees expressed dissatisfaction with this decision, leading to a heated debate involving Toyin Abraham, Portable, Dayo Amusa, and others confronting Bobrisky after her win, which stirred controversy on social media.
Tensions escalated when a public dispute ensued between Femi Adebayo and Dayo Amusa, with Amusa criticizing the actor for supporting Bobrisky’s win.
During an interview with a prominent TV channel on Tuesday, March 26, Eniola clarified that choosing Bobrisky as the winner was a deliberate choice intended to generate publicity and promote her film using a strategic marketing approach.
She stressed that Bobrisky’s controversial persona played a crucial role in this decision, as awarding him the title of Best Dressed Female was meant to create more buzz for her project.
Eniola Ajao said, “It was all jokes. We just want to have fun. We want people to talk about the movie. My team and I decided that it needed to be in the faces of people.
“So we decided to give the Best Dressed Female award to Bobrisky since he has always been a very controversial person. At the end of the day, people started talking about it but some people are not happy.
“They started calling out Femi Adebayo who presented the award. He just presented it, it wasn’t his idea, he was not part of the judges. Nigerians shoul
dn’t slam him, please.”
