The Beautiful Gate Handicapped People’s Center Jos has joined in condemning the actions of KFC Restaurant Murtala Muhammed Airport Branch, Lagos for denying services to Debola Daniels, son of the former Governor of Ogun State Otunba Gbenga Daniels on the basis of his disability.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday 28th March 2024 by the Executive Director of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People’s Center Jos, Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan who is currently in Mubi, Adamawa State to attend to an official function.
Chief Burki condemned the actions of KFC Murtala Muhammed Brand, Lagos and called on KFC to publish an apology for the irresponsible act.
“This is a very sad, unfortunate, unacceptable and condemnable situation. We must see this as our collective fight as injustice to one is an injustice to all.”
“We must call out KFC and her likes in total condemnation. We must demand a written and published apology for the irresponsible conduct of the organisation’s staff. I don’t know what has come over them but I have been well treated in the past over there.”
“I am at a loss. The KFC act is a violation of an existing law. Every body is however looking at it solely from moral perspective and not the real problem…” He called for very stiff sanctions including a fine of atleast 1 Million Naira to serve a deterrence to protective persons or organizations that may wish to tow the same path as KFC.
“Nobody should and needs to beg anybody for condemnation of the act or KFC for apology but let’s rather ensure that the law works to serve as deterrence to others with the naive attitude.”
On Wednesday 27th March 2024, Debola Gbenga Daniel took to his X account (formerly called Twitter) to lament the ordeal he suffered in the hands of the Manager of KFC Murtala Muhammed Airport Branch, Lagos because he was on a wheelchair. Series of condemnations have followed including the shutdown of the Murtala Muhammed, Lagos branch of KFC by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigerian (FAAN).
