In what could prove to be an enjoyable affair from the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night, Oxford will host Lincoln.
Starting with the hosts, while Oxford might have opened the New Year in the midst of a real struggle, Des Buckingham’s men have come roaring back in a sensational fashion. Last seen over the weekend putting in a stunning performance on home soil as they stormed their way to a 5-0 romp against Peterborough, the Yellows find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Skyrocketing their way into the play-off places and now sat firmly in the driving seat to clinch a top-six finish, Oxford have collected 13 points from their previous five League One appearances. In fact, along with getting April underway with a 4-0 victory against Fleetwood, Tuesday’s hosts have won all of their last three outings by an aggregate score of 14-0. Quickly gaining a fearsome reputation for their free-scoring performances in the final third, Buckingham’s side will be looking to make another major statement of intent here. Likewise, it should also be highlighted, the U’s have bagged at least a pair of goals in six of their previous eight showdowns at the Kassam Stadium.
As for the visitors, watching their own purple patch come to an abrupt end over the weekend, Lincoln also saw their fading play-off ambitions take what should be a final dent. Simply looking to claim an immediate response here, Tuesday’s guests will be excited by their extended success on the road. Opening April with a routine 3-1 victory away at Carlisle, Lincoln are unbeaten in all of their previous six showdowns away from Sincil Bank. Despite facing what is a stern examination in midweek, the Imps should also be impressed by their most recent trip to the Kassam Stadium. Claiming a 2-1 win when they travelled to Oxford last season, we are expecting what could be another enjoyable affair here.
