Bobrisky Is Being Kept In Our Male Çell After Revealing To The Court That He Is A Màn And Not A Womàn

After the Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced the well-known transgender celebrity, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, to six months in prison for currency defacement, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) announced that Bobrisky will serve time in the male unit of its correctional facility.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court reportedly found Bobrisky guilty of defacing the Naira, resulting in his sentencing on Friday, April 12th.

Bobrisky, who has openly shared his gender transition journey on social media, declared himself as male during court proceedings, which influenced the decision to place him in a facility designated for males. A spokesperson for the correctional service in Lagos stated, “Since he acknowledged being male in court, we must adhere to what was stated during the proceedings.”

Despite concerns about his safety due to his gender identity, correctional officers have reassured that Bobrisky will be adequately safeguarded from potential harm. The spokesperson stated, “He shouldn’t fear sexual assault from other male inmates as our personnel will provide him with protection,” addressing concerns about his vulnerability.

Bobrisky’s recent Instagram video, where he posed suggestively, has attracted significant attention, as has his ongoing social media activity. With five million followers on Instagram, he has openly shared his gender transition journey, mentioning, “My transition into womanhood has been smooth without any health issues. Everything is going well for me.”
