Bourbon signs for six newbuilds

French offshore vessel owner and services provider Bourbon is set to expand its fleet with six crew transfer vessel newbuilds booked at compatriot yard.

Piriou shipyards has been contracted to deliver the new surfer-type vessels in 2025 which will add to Bourbon’s fleet operating in West Africa.

The 27-m-long newbuilds will be able to carry between 50 and 70 passengers and deliver about 20% reduction in fuel consumption, Bourbon said.

The newbuilding project was led by the Bourbon Mobility teams in collaboration with the MAURIC naval architecture firm and the yard.

In October 2021, Bourbon revealed plans to build 40 CTVs in three years to rejuvenate its fleet.

“This new generation of crewboats illustrates the commitment of Bourbon and its teams to promoting sustainable navigation practices while optimising the energy efficiency of the vessels and modernising the fleet for the benefit of our customers,” the company said in a release Tuesday.
