Brainjotter’s Dance Moves Bring 36-Year-Old Song Back to Life – And He Didn’t Make a Dime!

Yesterday was a joyous occasion as Brainjotter visited the house of Mike Ejeagha in Enugu. A crowd gathered to welcome him, and he delighted everyone by dancing the viral Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo dance.

Mike Ejeagha’s son expressed heartfelt gratitude to Brainjotter for bringing his father’s old music back into the spotlight after about 36 years. The entire Ejeagha family showed their appreciation for Brainjotter’s efforts.

In a generous gesture, Brainjotter transferred 2 million naira to the family, stating that he was giving Pa Mike Ejeagha this money out of his own goodwill. He explained that he never anticipated the song would go viral. He had simply used the sound for one of his old dances after discovering the song on TikTok.

Brainjotter clarified on his Facebook page that he did not make any money from the viral dance video. Contrary to popular belief, all the revenue generated from the video went directly to Mike Ejeagha’s record label, which holds the copyright to the song. He said that he had previously posted the video with a different soundtrack and only replaced it with Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo without expecting it to go viral.

He also shared that he frequently uses old-school songs in his dance videos, which helps generate income for the original artists. He further explained that neither Facebook, Instagram, nor YouTube will pay you for a song that has copyright. All the revenue went to Mike Ejeagha’s record label, which owns the copyright of the song. The virality of his dance only boosted the streams of the song and other his songs on different platforms, generating revenue for the record label that owns the copyright.
