The meeting of the two prominent politicians had generated mixed reactions from netizens who thought Atiku and Obi were working on how to unite and form a strong force that would defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

A user, OTUNBA wrote: “If Atiku and Peter Obi work together in 2027 they’ll kick Bola Tinubu out.

“Two options.

1) Atiku drops his ambition and supports Peter Obi for President.

2) Peter Obi agrees to be Atiku’s running mate, then in 2031 after Atiku’s administration Obi will run as President.”

Powerofnaija had also reported how Paul Ibe, the spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, blamed the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, for Peter Obi’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Ibe had said this during an interview on Seun Okinbaloye’s Mic on podcast monitored by powerofnaija on TikTok.

According to Ibe, what pushed Peter Obi out of the PDP was Wike’s insistence that the party’s presidential ticket should go to the Southern region and not be narrowed down to the Southeast.
