Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, also known as Burna Boy, has secured two nominations at the prestigious BET Awards. The ‘Ye’ hitmaker has been nominated in two major categories: Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Best Male R&B/Pop Artist.

This double nomination shows Burna Boy’s dominance in both the Hip-Hop and R&B/Pop genres.

He is also going up against big names in the industry like Drake, Usher, Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar, Future, Gunna and the likes.

Burna Boy has previously won BET Awards for Best International Act in 2019 and 2020. He is no stranger to the BET stage. However, these nominations mark a significant achievement in his career as he receives nominations in these categories for the first time. The 2024 BET Awards will take place on Sunday, June 30.

Tems received nominations in the Video Director of the Year and Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award category. Ayra Starr is also going head-to-head with Tyla in the Best New Artist category.

The BET Awards brings together the biggest names in music, movies, TV, and sports. The event will broadcast live, and fans across the globe will tune in to see if Burna Boy will add more accolades to his already impressive resume.

Burna Boy has had an impressive year so far career wise. He performed a medley of his Grammy-nominated songs at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

In addition to his Grammy performance, he hopped on a recent remix of ‘Tswana Bam.’ Released on Wednesday, 15 May, the track quickly gained popularity, amassing over 255,000 streams on its release day. The remix saw Burna Boy team up with South African artistes TitoM, Yuppe, and S.N.E.
