Commander Operation Safe Haven, Gen. Abubakar Commends Personnel for Displaying Professionalism and Courage

The Commander of Operation Safe Haven and General Officer Commanding 3 Division Jos Plateau State, Major General Abdulsalami Abubakar has said the professionalism, courage and determination being demonstrated by the personnel of the Outfit to achieve its collective mandate of restoring peace and securing the joint operations area especially Plateau State are highly appreciated.

He stated this during the Sallah Luncheon which held at the Headquarters of Operation Safe Haven in Jos, the Plateau State Capital in honour of the Personnel of Operation Safe Haven and to celebrate them during the Eid-El-Fitr celebration.
In his words “The celebration reminds us of the unwavering sacrifices of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Immigration Service, the Nigerian Correctional Service, as well as the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps and the Defense Intelligence Agency personnel under our command in the maintenance of peace and security of lives and property within Operation Safe haven joint operations area.

While acknowledging and applauding their efforts, he charged them not to rest on their oars in discharging their assigned roles at all times.
He maintained that “to consolidate the gains of all our recent achievements, we must intensify our efforts to completely eradicate all acts of isolated killings, kidnapping, farmers hurdles, clashes, cattle rustling, as well as cattle poisoning, farm destruction and ethno-religious crisis, among all other forms of security threats within our joint operations area”
He reassured them that headquarters Operation Safe Haven as well as both the Army Headquarters and the Defense headquarters, will do all that is necessary to provide the personnel with the requisite leadership, welfare, and logistics to motivate them for effective and successful conduct of their operations.

He encouraged them to always remember their gallant departed colleagues who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the discharge of their official duties.
“We must all collectively ensure that the sacrifices of our departed colleagues will never be in vain.

“I charge you all to remain disciplined, loyal, vigilant, and professional in the conduct of our operations going forward.

He expressed dismay over the gruesome murder of three Personnel of the outfit while discharging their constitutional mandates between Mangu and Barkin Ladi local government areas.

“I have sworn not to rest until all those responsible are brought to justice.
“And thankfully, we have recovered their weapons and already arrested most of the perpetrators that are responsible, some as far away as Bauchi. Like I always say, you can only run, you cannot hide and get you.

“We remember them and their sacrifices with special reverence, and our hearts will always be with their families, and we pray that the Almighty grant them eternal rest” he concluded.

The Plateau Cultural Troops and Nigerian Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Cultural Troops thrilled and entertained the Guests with their captivating live performances.

The colourful event was well attended by retired top Military Officers, the Deputy Commander, Operation Safe Haven, the Chief of Staff, senior officers from 3 Division Nigerian Army, as well as Operation safe heaven, principal staff officers, troops of Operation Safe Haven and other invited Guests.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of gifts to the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Abdulsalami Abubakar by Chief Samuel Adetunji “Mr. Fish” as the Troops, Officers and other invited Guests were treated to variety of sumptuous delicacies.
