Edo Renaissance Movement Challenges Ighodalo Campaign: “Enough with the Fake Opinion Polls!”

The Edo Renaissance Movement has publicly condemned the campaign of Asue Ighodalo, calling out what they describe as a series of fraudulent opinion polls aimed at misleading the public. In a statement released today, the movement criticized the Asue Ighodalo Campaign Organization for collaborating with various groups to fabricate these polls, including a dubious entity they referred to as the African Polling Institute.

This organization, which has a reputation for supporting the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has been accused of undermining other political parties while promoting the PDP agenda. The recent poll results were touted on Arise Television, which the movement claims is complicit in the Ighodalo campaign’s propaganda efforts. Following the announcement, Ighodalo appeared live on the station, attempting to lend credibility to the misleading polls.

“We urge all Edolites to ignore these deceptive surveys,” stated Osasu Imadiyi, Head of Publicity for the Edo Renaissance Movement. “Intelligence reports suggest that the campaign has orchestrated numerous fake polls to mislead voters, fully aware that both Asue Ighodalo and the PDP lack genuine popularity.”

Furthermore, the movement has raised concerns about the involvement of certain paid civil society organizations allegedly trying to incite panic amidst increasing arrests of armed individuals ahead of the elections. “Where have these so-called civil society organizations been all this time?” Imadiyi asked.

With significant financial resources reportedly allocated to discredit the opposition, the Edo Renaissance Movement encourages voters to focus on the real issues rather than being swayed by manipulated statistics. As they look ahead to the pivotal date of September 21, 2024, which they are proclaiming as Edo State’s New Independence Day, they emphasize the importance of reclaiming the state from those they believe have taken control without the people’s consent.
