Edo youths have thrown their full support behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, reaffirming their belief that he is the leader who can rescue the state from its current challenges.
In a statement issued by the Youth Alliance for Edo Unity and Progress (YAEUP), the youths listed the poor condition of the state, rampant poverty, and wasteful spending on questionable contracts as the key “achievements” of the current People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration.
“Senator Monday Okpebholo stands as a beacon of hope,” they declared, emphasizing his commitment to improving healthcare, empowering local communities, and ensuring efficient management of the state’s resources. The statement highlighted Okpebholo’s focus on raising living standards, protecting the rights and properties of Edo people, and fostering economic growth through youth development, education, and industrial expansion.
The youth group urged voters to reject both PDP and Labour Party candidates in the upcoming September 21 governorship election, asserting that Okpebholo’s integrity, leadership, and clear vision make him the right choice to lead Edo State into a prosperous future. They lauded his gentle demeanor, sharp intellect, and unwavering commitment to the state’s welfare, contrasting these qualities with what they described as the lack of vision and experience among the other candidates.
The YAEUP also endorsed the Okpebholo/Idahosa ticket, expressing confidence that their leadership will bring about much-needed change, including the creation of jobs, urban renewal, and a more inclusive government with greater opportunities for youth and women.
The statement, titled “Common Sense,” was signed by YAEUP’s Director of Mobilization, Dr. Matthew Agbonifo, who expressed optimism that Okpebholo would not only improve the quality of life for Edo people but also restore dignity, peace, and progress to the state.
