Federal Govt adopt strategies to dismantle Lukarawa terror group, wipe them out of Nigeria

The federal government has vowed to dismantle the Lakurawa terror group, which has been linked to a series of recent attacks and fatalities in Sokoto and Kebbi states.

Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar assured the public that decisive actions are being taken to confront and neutralize the security threat posed by the group.

“The (acting) Chief of Army Staff has visited the areas and he has discussed with other service chiefs on how to crush these people. They have rolled out strategies on how to end the new terror group, God willing, including provision of additional equipment and troops that will be deployed to the affected areas in order to bring an end to it.

Christopher Musa, (the Chief of Defence Staff), the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff and the Chief of Air Staff have met and have mapped out strategies, and I am convinced on how they are going to handle the issue. “If you look at it, we have recorded successes in the last one year. Lakurawa’s violent campaign has led to significant loss of life and widespread destruction. In one such attack, four military personnel were killed in an ambush by the group in the Bachaka Kurya Forest, located in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto.

The terror group also claimed the lives of 15 civilians and looted more than 100 cattle in Mera, in Kebbi’s Augie Local Government Area.

President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned these attacks, calling them “desperate acts of terror,” and has pledged to ensure that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.
