Two years following the killing of his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Buhari, better known as Ummita, the Kano State High Court in the north-western region, on Tuesday, March 26, issued a death sentence by hanging to Geng Quandong, a Chinese man.

Upon the prosecution demonstrating the alleged murder beyond a reasonable doubt, the court determined that Quandong, aged 47, was indeed guilty of culpable homicide, an offense punishable by death under Section 221 of the Penal Code Law of Kano State, and subsequently convicted him.

On September 16, 2022, Quangrong fatally stabbed a 23-year-old woman at her family home in Janbulo quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano.
