John Fredriksen-backed Flex LNG has seen an extension called on one of its LNG carriers, fixing it into the first quarter of 2032.
The charterer, earlier revealed as Cheniere Marketing International, a subsidiary of US LNG player Cheniere Energy, has extended the contract for the 2018-built Flex Endeavour, adding 500 days to the vessel’s existing charter.
The Oslo- and New York-listed Flex said the vessel has an additional one-year option attached to the deal signed in November 2022 as part of a three-ship extension package.
The Øystein Kalleklev-led company has secured three contract extensions this year, adding 4.4 years of additional firm backlog to 11 of our 13 vessels on long term fixed rate charter contracts and one vessel on variable hire time charter.
“With this extension, our total firm backlog stands at a solid 51 years, which may increase to 69 years in the event charterers are utilising all their extension options,” Kalleklev remarked.
