From Sewing Machines to Street Protests: Kaduna Tailors Cash In on Russian Flag Craze as Protesters Demand Tinubu’s Removal for Atiku!

The #EndBadGovernance protests in Kaduna continued for their fifth day on Monday, with thousands of demonstrators waving Russian flags and chanting slogans demanding the removal of President Bola Tinubu as they marched through major streets in the state.

Monday’s protest was the largest in the state since the movement began across Nigeria on August 1. On the first day, protesters attacked the Government House and other public buildings, resulting in non-participants being harassed, with reports of looting and assaults on innocent citizens. This outbreak of violence has raised concerns about further unrest.

On Monday, protesters from areas such as Kakuri, Tudun Wada, Rigasa, Unguwan Shanu, and Abakwa stormed the popular Ahmadu Bello Way, looting and breaking into private residences. A protester told a journalist “We want Tinubu to step down and Atiku Abubakar to take over the governance of the country.” When asked why they were waving the Russian flag, the protester said they wanted Russia to come to their aid, similar to the situation in Niger.

Another protester revealed that over a thousand Russian flags were distributed to demonstrators, though the sponsors were unidentified. A protester from Tudun Wada said that local tailors were hired to sew the flags, describing it as a profitable venture for them.
