Heads of MDAs in Plateau State Assure Citizens of Better Performance and Good Governance

Commissioners and Heads of some Department and Agencies have assured the Citizens of Plateau State that they are committed to providing good governance.
In their separate remarks, they hinted that the State Governor is committed to providing sound leadership, bettering the lives of the Citizens by bringing democratic dividends to their doorsteps.
They also reaffirmed their resolve to work in unison to meet the the respective mandates of their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as the overall mandate of the Governor Caleb Mutfwang-led administration.
They made these known while presenting their separate sectoral scorecards and future plans for the State during a live telecast of Town Hall Accountability Forum ‘The Time Is Now Stewardship’ held at the Plateau Radio and Television Corporation (PRTV) on Saturday 6th April, 2024.
The Town Hall Meeting was organized by the Directorate of Research and Documentation, Plateau State Government House in collaboration with the Plateau Radio Television Corporation (PRTV).

The State’s Commissioner of Agriculture, Hon. Samson Ishaku Bugama highlighted how his Ministry is working toward making the State an agriculture haven in the Country. He said the State Government is working tirelessly to attract foreign investors who have indicated interest in the State to boost food production considering the comparative advantage of the State in terms of agriculture.

Commissioner of Transport, Hon. Davou Gyang Jatau and the General Manager of the Plateau State Express Services Limited, Hon. Samuel Jok Gwott disclosed the focus of the present administration to make the transport sector more viable in order to meet the needs of the People. They maintained that the State government is ready for progressive partnerships that will add value to the State and the Citizens.
Barrister Peter Nyam Gai, the Commissioner of Lands and Survey on his part spoke on how his Ministry has reduce the time in obtaining Certificates and Rights of Occupancy in the State as well as the digitalization of the process for acquiring same.
The Housing and Urban Development Commissioner hinted that plans are underway to ensure that some suburbs are upgraded to urban centres through the provision of better infrastructural developments and other social amenities.

Dr. Cletus Shurkuk the Health Commissioner narrated how his Ministry has deployed measures towards attaining a more healthier population.
The General Manager of the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB), Arc. Hart Bankat said the Board is committed to achieving the greater Jos Master Plan which he said is possible.

The Director General of the Plateau State Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency, Hon. Samuel Dapiya disclosed that his agency is working round the clock to make Plateau clean and safe in order to mitigate against flooding as indicates in the ongoing distillation of drainages in Jos/Bukuru Metropolis.
Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Hon. Ephraim Usman spoke on the plan by the Ministry to digitalize the processes of Registry Marriages as well as the issuance of Indigene Certificates.
He said the present administration inherited backlogs of salaries of local government employees and Teachers but have been able to clear same.
Justice Commissioner and Attorney General of the State, Barrister Philemon Daffi a seasoned Legal Practitioner disclosed that the present administration will ensure that rule of law is respected and justice is seen being dispense to the Citizens of the State. He asserted that lawlessness would no longer be tolerated in the State urging the Citizens to be law-abiding.

The Commissioner of Higher Education, Ngo Dr. Kachollom Gang assured the People that Education is among the priorities of the present administration and will be given the needed attention.
Earlier in his remarks the Director General of Research and Documentation, Dr. Samuel Godongs said the present administration is gaining more acceptability by the Citizens of the State on account of its sterling performance so far which it intends to do more.
He said the present administration is working to bequeath a more united, peaceful and prosperous State.
