Manchester United are looking to upgrade their squad ahead of the new campaign, with the club more than willing to bring in a centre-back this summer.

United has been criticised for their performances this season, with people at the club waiting for the current season to end so they can begin anew next season.

Most of their bad results has been attributed to the lack of defensive coherence and lack of quality defenders, hence, the need for a defensive reinforcements.

However, the Manchester club can still win a trophy this season, should they be able to defeat city rivals Manchester City at Wembley, in their FA Cup final game.

The Red Devils are already making plans for next season despite what the outcome of that game against City would be, with new arrivals expected at the the Theater of Dreams before the start of the new campaign.

According to reports, A centre-back is highly needed at the club, with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite said to be the number one star on the club’s wishlist. However, United need to overcome a price problem to have the 21-year-old at Old Trafford, or seek out other players.

According to a report made by Givemesport, Manchester United want a cut-price deal for Jarrad Branthwaite after deciding they will not meet Everton’s £80m asking price for the English defender. It is said that Ten Hag’s side are only willing to pay up to £55m for his signature.

United’s reluctance in meeting Everton’s asking price for the defender could be their undoing, as he is coverted by so many English clubs already.

Branthwaite is one of the Everton players who is not expected to be at the club next season, as Everton is willing to sanction his sale and raise some money because of their financial situation at the moment.
