Huge boost as Chelsea get Malo Gusto and Cole Palmer injury boost with Casadei spotted in Chelsea training ahead of Everton

Double injury boost, Casadei and more things spotted in Chelsea training ahead of Everton

Chelsea look set to have at least two injury worries quelled ahead of Monday’s Premier League clash with Everton.

As many as ten senior players could miss the clash, although a handful are hopefully back within the coming week. Chelsea face a tricky period after Everton, starting with the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City a week on Saturday.

Arsenal, Aston Villa and Tottenham all follow as Chelsea try and salvage a top seven finish in the Premier League. Mauricio Pochettino finds his side four points off a Europa Conference League spot with a game-in-hand over Newcastle and two in lieu on West Ham.

The manager will hope to have some key players back by the end of the month to give his team the best chance of securing a European adventure next term. Here are three things spotted in training at Cobham from Wednesday.

Double injury boost

Cole Palmer had been a slight concern after being taken off early in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield United. Pochettino explained afterwards that the winger was feeling fatigued but the England star is set to feature against the Toffees.

The same applies for Malo Gusto, who was rested for the Bramall Lane visit after feeling ill prior to his last two outings. Both stars were spotted putting in the paces during training.

Casadei looking to impress

Since returning from Leicester, Cesare Casadei is yet to start a match. In fact, he has not played more than eight minutes in any of his four Premier League substitute appearances so far. The nine-capped Italy under-21 international was recalled due to thinned midfield numbers amid Chelsea’s spate of senior injuries.

Everton is perhaps one of only a handful of games left this season that Casadei will get the chance to start. The 21-year-old had registered three goals and two assists in 25 games for Leicester before his recall.

Those not spotted

Levi Colwill, Robert Sanchez and Ben Chilwell were all hoped to return against Everton, and still might. However club cameras did not publish any shots of the trio, rousing fears they might be ready in time.

Sanchez returned to the bench against Brentford and Newcastle before being ruled out again while Chilwell is recovering from a knee injury and Colwill is nursing a toe issue. Their absences from club cameras, though, does not necessarily indicate they were not involved in group training this week.
