Ikos Izere Festival a Veritable Tool for National Unity and Cohesion

The Izere Nation, Plateau State has expressed its readiness to continue to use the Ikos Izere Festival to foster national unity, peaceful coexistence and cohesion with other tribes in Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Musa Ashoms made this known during the 2024 Ikos Izere which held at the Izere Arena Lamingo Jos North LGA, Plateau State on Saturday 30th March, 2024.
He said the event is being held 1st January annually and brings together Sons and Daughters of the Izere Nation. He said the event was postponed on account of the security challenges that befell the State in December, 2023 to January, 2024 and to identify with others, it became necessary to postpone it.
He said the event bring together illustrious Sons and Daughters of Izere Nation across all walks of life to fraternize and chart the way forward towards achieving a prosperous Izere Nation, add value to the State and Nation at large.

In his remarks the National Chairman of Afizere Cultural and Community Development Association (ACCDA), Engr. Yakubu Ashoms said the Ikos Izere is an annual festival of Art and Culture where the Izere Nation showcase its various beautiful and appreciated cultural dances for entertainment and bequeathing same to the next generation.
He lauded the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang for the developmental strides through the infrastructural interventions, rejigging of the transport sector and for appointing sons and daughters of Izere Nation who he said he is confident that their remarkable track records and capabilities to add value to the State.
He said the Izere Nation is in desperate need of infrastructural development especially accessible roads, healthcare facilities, boarding schools and electricity which according to him have the propensity of improving agricultural productivity and enhancing transportation. He said these in turn will reduce unemployment, insecurity, rural-urban migration, youth restiveness and other social vices.
He appreciated the Traditional Council for preserving the Izere rich cultural heritage and urged the Citizens to always be law-abiding.

In his address the Agwom Izere, His Royal Highness Rev. Dr. Isaac Azi Wakili commended the Central Planning Committee for ensuring the event is a huge success and said the Izere Nation will continue to contribute its quota to the development of Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
He admonished Izere illustrious Sons and Daughters to be good Ambassadors of the Izere Nation anywhere they are.

The event commenced with a carnival and walk from the popular Justice Sambo Atsi Roundabout to the Izere Arena, venue of the event.

Guests were thrilled and entertained with the live performances from the Asharwa, Agafu, Agba Dancers and other dances especially the Amata (Female) Dance Competition sponsored by Prof. Danladi Atu, the immediate past Secretary to the Government of Plateau State.
The event was well attended.
