According to Kieran Tierney, he has not yet discussed Mikel Arteta’s future with Arsenal, but he maintains that his season-long loan at Real Sociedad was a fantastic experience.
Coming to the Gunners in 2019 from Celtic, the Scotland international quickly became the first-choice left-back until Oleksandr Zinchenko joined from Manchester City in 2022.
The 26-year-old, however, ended last season with just one appearance across all competitions and went on loan to Real Sociedad for the current campaign. Tierney expresses his sadness at leaving Spain after 15 appearances, saying he is loving his time at the Reale Arena.
“To be honest, I am enjoying it,” Tierney told talkSPORT of the extraordinary event. “It’s a shame that there is so little time left, there are a good six or seven weeks left of the season.”
Tierney has acknowledged that he has not discussed his future with Arteta at the Emirates Stadium, even though he is scheduled to return to North London at the end of the season. But the ex-Celtic defender isn’t ruling out a return to the Gunners’ starting lineup, and he’s finding inspiration in William Saliba’s comeback after multiple loan stints in France.
Adding, “In football you never know,” Tierney continued. The fact that you can return in the same manner as (William) Saliba seems a little weird. Being out of the game for four years and then getting back into it is unusual. Who knows? Football is wild. He’s occupied over there, so I won’t be chatting with Arteta.
